Euralille

Euralille is the Quartier of businesses of Lille, on a surface of 90 hectares gathering, around the station Lille Europe, a whole of offices and social centres carried out in 1995 with Lille. Rem Koolhaas is the town-planner who conceived the whole of the urban project. The architects Jean Nouvel, Christian de Portzamparc or Kazuo Shinohara took part through the construction of individual buildings, in particular Christian de Portzamparc with the called tower the “Ski boot”.

Composition

  • the stations Lille-Flandres and Lille-Europe concentrate the main part of international, national and regional flows;
  • the shopping mall Euralille (architect: Jean Nouvel) includes/understands a Hypermarché Carrefour of 12.000 m ² and a shopping mall of 120 shops, on the whole 66.000 m ² of sales areas;
  • the turn of Lille (in the past called turn of the Crédit Lyonnais - architect: Christian de Portzamparc), the Turn Lilleurope (architect: Claude Vasconi), the Atrium, the city of the Businesses, Centers Europe/Suite Hotel and the Eurocity turns offer on the whole more than 81.000 m ² of surfaces of offices in the middle of the business district;
  • the House of the architecture installed under the viaduct of Corbusier;
  • Lille Large palace, initially named " congrexpo" , gathers under its elliptic roof the Zenith-Arena (concert hall of 7000 places), 3 amphitheaters and a hall of exposure. It is the only site of France to join together these three infrastructures under the same roof.
  • the INPI (National institute of the industrial property) decentralized its buildings with Euralille;
  • a city park of 7 ha: the park Henri Matisse conceived by Gilles Clement.

Euralille 2

A second project, Euralille 2, are under development on a ground of 22 hectare between Lille Large palace and the station of freight Saint-Saver. This project, composed of a peripheral urban face, was conceived by the agency Dusapin-Leclerc (Fabrice Dusapin and François Leclerc) associated with the agency of Ter architect-landscape designer. This new district will be composed of equipment, offices, 600 residences and many green areas.
