Eugenio Lucas Velázquez
Eugenio Lucas there Padilla, known as Eugenio Lucas Velázquez (born with Madrid on February 9th, 1817 - died in Madrid on September 11th, 1870), was a Spanish painter XIXe century.
Raise Académie San Fernando of Madrid, Eugenio Lucas admired particularly the Art of Diego Velázquez, Murillo and Francisco Goya. If it owes its nickname with the first, it is the last of these great painters which played the most important part in the work of Lucas. It was indeed one of the most talented follower (with Leonardo Alenza) of Goya, of which it had perfectly the fast key and pastings and of which it also shared fascination for the darkest aspects and most antiquated of Iberian civilization, like the Inquisition, banditism or the Tauromachie. Several works of Lucas were allotted besides to Goya.
Its voyages, with the Morocco in particular, influenced its landscapes and its tables orientalistes.
He married a sister of another romantic painter inhabitant of Madrid, Jenaro Pérez Villaamil.
His/her son, Eugenio Lucas there Villaamil (1858-1918), also devoted himself to pictorial art.
