Eugene de Lur-Saluces

Eugene de Lur-Saluces (count of, Cte) (1852 - 1930) is a lawyer, militant Monarchiste and Journaliste French.

Eugene de Lur-Saluces is resulting from a rich person family of old Noblesse which had since the reign of Louis XVI the field of Yquem just as the castle and the church richly decorated with Uza. (To be noted: today, the Château of Yquem is well-known by the liqueur-like wine amateurs, it is about a vineyard of 148 hectares which extends on the highest hill from Sauternes, and which belongs from now on to the group LVMH).

In 1870, Lur-Saluces leaves the Military academy to make the countryside of 1870. During the War free-Prussian, it takes share with the battle of Coulmiers. It Marie in 1882 with a heiress of the family Mac-Mahon with the church of Yquem (which was dedicated to saint Louis IX).

In 1899, it takes part - at the sides of the Royaliste André Buffet - in the Coup d'etat missed organized by Paul Déroulède and several members of the Ligue of the French fatherland. He is condemned to ten years of banishment by the High court under the chief of Complot against the State in 1900.

Like its fellow-member Dresser, Lur-Saluces is constrained to be exiled with Brussels. During this time, he collaborates in the activities of the office Politique of the duke of Orleans. Always in 1900, Lur-Saluces is made known monarchists mediums thanks to the Enquête over monarchy (Gazette of France, 1900, then published in volume) of Charles Maurras. This last had met it in Belgium and had reproduced extracts of its talks in the first book of its investigation.

Lur-Saluces is shown there in favor of the restoration of a Monarchie nelle Tradition, Héréditaire, Antiparlementaire and Décentralisé E. Its ideas, just like those of Dresser, will be taken up by Maurras for the drafting of its program monarchist " Dictator and Roi". Via Maurras, Lur-Saluces is set up with the row of the Royaliste S just and intransigent of the time. Its contribution to the " enquête" fact of him an intellectual guide of the French Action and Orléanisme. He was besides the president of the French royalist committee of South-west.

Near to Georges Valois, Henri Vaugeois and the Street pedlars of the king, Lur-Saluces contributed to the diffusion of the ideas monarchists of the French Action during twenty-five years. He was member of the board of directors of the principal publisher of the movement: The New national bookstore.

In 1925, when Valois leaves AF to found the Beam, Lur-Saluces is excluded from the movement by Maurras which badly agreed to lose the New national bookstore (directed by Valois since 1912). The count will continue his journalistic activity without giving up his royalist convictions and Contre-révolutionnaire S until his death about 1930.
