Eugene Vaillé
Eugene Vaillé (born the August 10th 1875 with Bédarieux - died in 1959 with Riols) was the first conservative of the postal museum of France, current the Musée of the Post office, 1946 to 1955.
Biography
Native of the Herault, Vaillé is doctor in right. In 1920, it integrates the ministry for the Postes, Télégrammes and Telephones as a librarian. During the following decade, it ensures the management of the central library of the postal and telecommunications authorities.In 1936, it manages to convince the minister of the postal and telecommunications authorities Georges Mandel to start again the creation project of a postal Musée, who had been considered fine 19th-beginning 20th century. Even if the economic crisis of the years 1930 and the Second world war prevent any concrete realization, Vaillé undertakes the work of inventory of the collections and parts available in the files and library of the stations. In 1943, he becomes the president of a council of management of this future museum.
He becomes about it the first conservative with the inauguration of the postal Museum of France, on June 4th, 1946, in the hotel of Choiseul-Praslin, the 6 {{E}} district of Paris. He leaves his functions in 1955.
Specialist in the postal History French, he is regular member of the Académie of philately of 1938 to 1955, then honorary member until his death in 1959. He is known for the drafting of a general Histoire of the French Post offices in seven volumes published of 1947 to 1955.
