Eugene Turpin

François Eugene Turpin (born in 1848 with Paris; died on January 24th 1927 with Pontoise) was a French chemist who worked in particular in the field of the Explosifs.

He discovered the explosive properties of the Picric acid . He is thus at the origin of the panclastic explosives . These new explosives were used, as from 1886, under the name of mélinite, of lyddite, écrasite or schimose.

In October 1896, it felt defamed in the novel of Jules Verne Vis-a-vis the flag and carried felt sorry for against this one. Jules Verne was defended by Raymond Poincaré and was released in first (March 1897) and second authority (December 1897).
