Eugene Freyssinet

Eugene Freyssinet (July 13rd 1879 - June 8th 1962) is a Engineer French.

He was born with Objat in Corrèze. He makes the Polytechnic school then the National school of the Highways Departments.

Named with Mills, it builds many Pont S until the First World War. It obtains the Caméré price of the Academy of Science for the technique of décintrement by jacks, employed for the first time for the construction of the bridge of Préréal in 1908.

Its many research enables him to develop travelling clotheshangers, ribbed vaults above and especially, he discovers the beneficial effect of the vibrations on the implementation of the Béton. He is regarded as the inventor of the prestressed concrete, patent deposited in 1928.

In the Years 1920, it takes part in the construction of the Pont Albert-Magnifying glass with three identical spans of 180 m range where it discovers the laws of the deformation differed from the concretes.

In 1933, it consolidates the harbor station of the Havre which was packed on itself and threatened to crumble.

He dies in 1962 to 83 years with Saint-Martin-Vésubie in the the Alpes-Maritimes.

Company STUP (Company For the Use of Prestressed) is created in order to implement the Brevet S of Eugene Freyssinet. This company disappeared today, it left its place to the Freyssinet company, of the group of construction Vinci.
