Eugene-Nickel silver of Vogue
The Viscount Eugene-Nickel silver of Vogue is a diplomat and French man of letters, born with Nice on February 24th 1848 and died in Paris on March 24th 1910.
Biography
Eugene Melchior Viscount of Vogue passes his youth to the castle of Gourdan close to Annonay (Ardèche). He is volunteer in 1870, and is wounded with the battle of Sedan.
He enters the diplomatic career as embassy attach3e to Constantinople under the orders of his uncle, Melchior of Vogue. Then he is embassy secretary to the Cairo and Saint-Pétersbourg, where he marries the girl of the Annenkof general, general inspector of the Empire, creator of the railroad Transcaucasien.
He leaves the diplomatic service to devote himself to the literature. After Syria, Palestine, Mount Athos (1876) or Eastern Stories (1880), it publish in 1886 its work principal, the Russian Novel which reveals with the French public opinion the intellectual and spiritual richnesses of Russia and mark an important date in the literary and political history of the end of the 19th century. This book contributes to the election of its author to the French Academy in 1888. Eugene-nickel silver of Vogues is also illustrated by its work of novelist ( Jean d' Agrève , the Master of the Sea , Deaths which speak ).
Regular collaborator of the Re-examined of the Two Worlds and the Newspaper of DEBATEs , it influences the bringing together of Leon XIII with the Third Republic, supports the movement of social Catholicism and the French initiatives with the colonies.
He was in addition appointed Ardèche between 1893 and 1898.
