Repertory
Enthusiastic catholic, assumed traditionalist, Eugen Jochum are regarded as a specialist in the austro-Germanic repertory, mainly symphonic, 19th century. Its recordings of the symphonies and the sacred music of Anton Bruckner, of which it was one of the first champions faithful to the original versions, continue to make authority. The tops of the discography of Jochum are also side of its recordings of the symphonies of Joseph Haydn, orchestral works of Brahms (quasi-unsurpassable concertos for piano with Emil Guilels), of vocal works of Jean-Sebastien Bach and of the cordial and vigorous readings of the operas of Wagner.
