Eudoxy Paleologist
Eudoxie Paleologist , (Ευδοκία Παλαιολογίνα) (1265; 1302) was the third girl of the Empereur bizantin Michel VIII Paleologist and of his wife, Theodora Doukaina Vatatzès, the large niece of the emperor Jean III Doukas Vatatzès, Empereur of Nicée. In 1282 Eudoxie was married with Constantinople with Jean II of Trébizonde, emperor of Trébizonde with which it had two wire, Alexis II of Trebizonde and Michel de Trébizonde. In 1298, after the death of her husband and the rise of his son Alexis II with the throne, it taken his/her youngest son with it and it was allocated to the court of his/her brother to Constantinople. Andronic II Paleologist received very well his sister, promising D el' to help in the need. Eudoxy became then entirely devoted to the interests of Trébizonde. She refused a second marriage with the king Stefan Uroš II Milutin of Serbia but she wished to keep the honor of its first husband and refused. Later, she was secretly opposed to the plan of her brother who was to marry Alexis II with a girl of a civil servant of high court Nikephoros Choumnos. Nevertheless, it made pretense approve this match thus hoping to return in Trébizonde. While waiting, Alexis II decided to marry with a princess ibérienne. His/her uncle Andronique II tried to prevent this marriage and sent Eudoxie in 1301 to Trébizonde because she affirmed with her brother that she was going to do everything to prevent her brother from carrying out her project, but to arrive at Trébizonde, Eudoxie helped her son to carry out her marriage. Perhaps Eudoxy died the following year, and was buried in the church of Gregoire Saint.
