Eudes Ier of Blois

Eudes Ier of Blois (950 - 995 or? March 12th 996), count de Blois, of Châteaudun, of Chartres, Turns, Rheims (v. 982), of Omois (around Castle-Thierry), Co count de Provins (983 -996), Viscount of Brie (974 -996), lord of Vierzon, Sancerre (950), of Saumur and Coucy were one of the most powerful lords of the time of Hugues Capet.
He is the son of Thibaud says the Cheater and of Liutgarde de Vermandois, girl of Herbert II of Vermandois. In 982, he marries Berthe of Burgundy, girl of Conrad III known as the Pacific , King de Bourgogne.
Following the conflict which opposed his/her father to the archbishop of Rheims on the Château of Coucy, it receives in 965 this castle but “into precarious” of the archbishop. In years 970, in the conflicts for the Duchy of Brittany, it supports the count of Rennes, Conan, strengthening the influence of its family in this territory.
It receives from the Carolingian king Lothaire the title of Count Palatine which will remain in its family. It does not delay, with his cousins Herbertiens, with becoming faithful Carolingians against the Robertiens. In 988, it assists Charles of Lorraine in his catch of Laon, which had belonged to his/her Thibaut father the Cheater.
In 991, it gives up the party of Lorraine against the town of Dreux. But with semi-991, while trying to seize Melun which belongs to Bouchard Worthy the, the faithful one among the faithful ones of Hugues Capet, it then sees protesting against him an alliance including/understanding Hugues Capet, Richard I {{er}} of Normandy and the count of Anjou, Foulque III Nerra, son-in-law of Bouchard.
It receives from Hugues Capet the title of Abbé Laïc of Saint Martin's day de Tours and Marmoutier which becomes the dynastic Nécropole counts of Blois. Towards 995, it enters in war against the Count d' Anjou, Foulque III Nerra, already in conflict on its Chartres-native border with Conan I {{er}} of Brittany.
In Touraine, it then sets up the keep of Langeais, one of the first built out of stone.
Eudes Ier manages to create an alliance which joins together his/her brother-in-law, the Duc of Aquitaine, Guillaume IV of Poitiers, the Count de Flandre Baudouin IV Bearded the, and even its former enemy, the Duc of Normandy, Richard I {{er}}. During winter 995-996, they put the seat in front of the castle of Langeais where Foulque III took refuge, but the arrival of France] to the help of Angevin, puts an end to their company.
Patient a little later Eudes Ier of Blois returns to the abbey of Marmoutier de Tours where it dies there on Thursday, March 12, 996. In October 996, its widow, Berthe of Burgundy, remarie with the king of France, Robert, the son of Hugues Capet.

In 982, he marries Berthe of Burgundy which gives him:

- Agnès which married Geoffroy II, Viscount of Thouars.
- Roger, bishop of Beauvais.
