Etienne Poncher († the March 15th 1553 with Paris), Bishop of Bayonne, archbishop of Turns, religious French.

Biography

Wire of Jean Poncher, general treasurer of Turns and Catherine Hurault, doctor in canon law, commendatory abbot of the Abbey of Roë as of the July 6th 1530, Master of the requests, 1531, ordinary chaplain of the king, 1534. It allowed Etienne Amyot, seneshal of Craon, because of its good officess, to occupy the abbey house of Roë, 1533, had as vicars with temporal and the spiritual one: N. h. Louis Leroux, canon of Angers, 1542, Georges Macé, prior of Saint-Aignan of Angers, 1550.

Bishop of Bayonne since 1532, it chaired the general chapter with Roë, the August 28th 1536. He made in 1549 a payment in thirteen articles for the abbey of Roë, proscribing inter alia the books Hérétique S.

He is archbishop of Turns by bubble of the April 6th 1561, abbot of Charity and of Saint-Pierre-the-Sharp, he died in Paris the March 15th 1553 and was buried with the Célestins. He had resigned Roë at the beginning of 1551. He carried of gold to the rafter of mouths, accompanied by a head of Moor of sand bandaged of money and 3 sand shells.
