Etienne Pellot

Etienne Pellot “  Montvieux  ” , known as the Basque Fox , (September 1st 1765 with Hendaye, France - 1856 in Hendaye) is the last Corsaire French known.

Foam at 13 years, it takes its first command at 23 years.

Corsair considered for his bravery and his successes, free thinker and large last appears of the race at sea, it is made prisoner on several occasions and undertakes several perilous escapes successfully. In 1812, its head was put at price with five hundred Guinea S, a considerable sum at the time.

Some of its ships, in particular the Two-Friends and the General Augereau , entered the legend corsair. He obtained the Légion of honor.

He is deceased in Hendaye in 1856, year which saw the end of the Guerre of race.

In Hendaye, a stele on the street Belcénia commemorates the character. Each year, in Hendaye, January pays homage to Saint-Vincent, owner of the city, at the time of the festival of Bixintxo. On this occasion, the children, disguised as corsairs, open the festivities by celebrating the return of Etienne Pellot, last Basque corsair of Hendaye, by a procession in the streets of the city.
