Etienne Mollevaut

Etienne Mollevaut , born with Jouy-under-the-Coasts (Meuse), on July 20th 1744, died in Nancy (Meurthe), on January 10th 1816, appointed of Meurthe to the national Convention, the the Council of Old the, the the Council of the Five hundred and to the legislative Body of year VIII with 1807.

Lawyer at the Parliament of Nancy, it was elected, with the Revolution, mayor of Nancy and, in March 1791, became member of the court of cassation.
September 4th 1792, it was elected, by the department of Meurthe, with national Convention, where it sat on the benches Girondins.
At the time of the Lawsuit of Louis XVI, it voted for the culpability of the king, the ratification of the judgment of the people, for detention, then the exile with peace and for the deferment. It justified its decision as follows: “I declare that I will pronounce like agent of the people; no decree me removed the title of it. I declare that I will not follow any other reason but that of the interest of the people. I am convinced that the day which would see falling the head from the tyrant would be perhaps that of the establishment of a new tyranny. I am convinced that the death of Louis would be for French people what was that of Charles Ier to the English. ”
April 13rd 1793, it voted for the committal for trial of Marat and, on May 21st, he became member and president of the Commission of the Twelve, for the research of the plots of the common of Paris, and, on May 28th, voted for the report/ratio of the decree which had broken the Commission of the Twelve the veille.
June 2nd, 1793, on proposal of Boudon of Oise, he was issued of arrest and charge with the Of Gironde ones, and, in July, was replaced by Dominique Jacob. He escaped, hid in Brittany, was put out the law, on July 28th, 1793, and, after the Thermidor 9, he was recalled to the Parliament in frimaire An III.
Re-elected the 21 vendémiaire year IV with the Council of Old, he became secretary, then president of the Council; became member of the Council of the Five hundreds, the 24 germinal year VI, and, being rejoined with the coup d'etat of the 18 brumaire, it was indicated by the Senate, the 4 nivôse year VIII, with the legislative Body where it sat until in 1807. In 1809, it was named headmaster of the college of Nancy and, in 1814, barristers president about lawyers of Nancy.
