Etienne-Louis Arthur Hand lantern

Etienne-Louis Arthur Fallot (born the September 29th 1850 with Sète, dead the April 30th 1911) is a French doctor who described in a way detailed of the cardiac malformations which bear its name.

In 1867, it begins from the studies of medicine to Marseilles. He writes a thesis on the Pneumothorax in 1876. In 1888, it publishes in “Contribution to the anatomy pathology of the blue disease” a description of the congenital cardiopathies following cyanogens:

The Pentalogie de Fallot was not described by Fallot itself but as this cardiopathy adds another malformation to the tetralogy, it is its name which was associated to him.

In 1888, he becomes also professor of Hygiène and Legal medicine in Marseilles.
