Ethiopian intervention in Somalia
The Ethiopian intervention in Somalia is an military operation launched by the Ethiopian Armée to support the Somali transitory Gouvernement and to fight against the offensive of the Union of the Islamic courts.
The two camps have 30.000 soldiers roughly. From the beginning, it seemed that the islamist ones were less better armed than their adversaries.
After the bombardment of the International airport of Mogadiscio, it was announced that the Islamic courts had deserted several cities in the area from the Putland.
The Ethiopian ones obtained the temporary support of the African Union while the islamist ones received the support of the Iran and of the Érythrée. The European Union is officially neutral in the conflict and pleads the dialog and the negotiations.
The observers for a long time feared the possibility of this conflict. Many hoped that the conflict is not prolonged during very a long time.
January 2nd, 2007, the islamist ones lose their last bastion. A process of stabilization is engaged with the sending of Ugandan troops. The peace plan is announced difficult because a few days later, the militia outlaw start again their rockets against Mogadiscio again.
