Ethelric de Deira
Æthelric is obscure a King de Deira of which one knows nothing, if not which it was, towards 588/589 (or 598/599), the successor of Ælle. The Anglo-Saxon Chronique adds that it reigned five years (AD 588).
Of Ælle and brother of Edwin are wire? It is possible, but there is not any proof. The chronology is very dubious. There are the choice between renovating ten years Ælle or prolonging the existence of Æthelric until towards 604. One can also try to grant the data of the Chronicle while supposing between 588/589 and 598/599 a king whom we do not know. But there still, nothing is essential absolutely.
Æthelfrith, king de Bernicie, indeed takes the control of Deira towards 604. It is admitted in general that was done by conquest, because Ereric and Edwin, the æthelings deiriens are constrained with the exile. Æthelfrith takes Acha, sister of Edwin, for wife. It is not question of Æthelric. If there were battle, one can think that it found death there.
