Estuary (province)
The Estuaire is a Gabonese Province. Its chief town is Libreville, the capital of the Gabon. This province by far is populated country since it gathers, with it only, half of the total population.
It owes its name with the fact that it shelters the Estuary of Gabon or Estuary of Komo which, left the river Me Be or Mbei with Kango, skirts the coasts of Libreville until the Cape Estérias where it joined the Atlantic Ocean. In the south, the estuary is closed by the Denis Point. In the east of the province, the Crystal Mounts form an obstacle with the penetration towards the interior of the country. In the north of Libreville the classified forest of Mondah is, included in the National park of Akanda. Leading to a marshy bay of mangrove type, it is of a great ecological richness but is threatened by the development of the Gabonese capital. There is also another site classified on left bank of the Estuary, the national park of Pongara.
The province of the Estuary is divided into three departments.
