Estoril is a civil Portuguese parish (: Pt [[freguesia]] ) of the Portugal, attached to the municipality of Cascais, located on the coast of Estoril, in edge of the Atlantic , to 18 km in the west of Lisbon.

Estoril is a famous seaside resort which counts 23.769 inhabitants (2001) on a territory of 8,79 km ² (Density: 2 702,9 hab/km ²).

History

The December 12th 1946, Jean de Bourbon, “count de Barcelone”, one of the applicants to the throne of Spain, is accommodated by Salazar, in Estoril. Other made historical capital, at the time of the great annual mass located on the impressive asphalt ribbon of Estoril, the Popes Schlaefli I and II, their Bono seigniories, Bugmann and Georget of their seals honoured the baillifs Gerdil and Aubert for their devotion and the contribution with fermented hop.

Sports

  • Until 1996, the Grand Prix of Formula 1 of Portugal was held on the circuit of Estoril.

  • the Grupo Desportivo Estoril Praia is a club of Football which evolves/moves in 2006 - 2007 in the second division of the Portuguese championship.
