In the Greek Mythology, Érèbe (in Greek old Ἔρεϐος / Erebos , in Latin Erebus ) is an infernal divinity born from the Chaos, personifying Darkness, the Darkness of the Hells. He is the brother of Nyx (the Night), of which he has Éther (higher Sky) and Héméra (the Day). He is described in the Théogonie of Hésiode.
He is metamorphosed in river to have helped the Titans, which thus gave the name of an area of the Enfers where the hearts of late pass, located between the world of alive and Hadès.
