Esther Williams

Esther Jane Williams is a swimmer of competition and an American actress born the August 8th 1922 with Inglewood in California, made famous for its musical films comprising of the scenes of swimming and dives.

Its life

Attracted by the swimming as of its more young age, it becomes national champion of 100 meters freestyle. It goes to Hollywood, where it quickly becomes popular thanks to its first roles in the Années 1940 and 1950 (his/her brother, Stanton Williams, had also made a short career in the Années 1920, before dying). Many its films, such as the Darling of Jupiter , the Ball of the Sirens or the first Siren contain scenes of swimming thoroughly orchestrated which sometimes required much of the actress on the physical level. Its films popularized the synchronized Natation. In its autobiography, Esther Williams details several occasions where it failed to drown while turning of the cascades époustouflantes. It seldom called upon a Doublure.

Its love life caused the interest of the media. It was married four times. From 1945 to 1958, she was married with the singer/actor Ben Gage, with whom she had three children. In its autobiography, it depicts it as an alcoholic parasite which wasted its incomes. She had a connection with Jeff Chandler.

Its third husband was the actor Fernando Lamas (1969-1982).

In 1961, it bids its farewell with the cinema with the film the magic Fountain and is devoted to its family life with her husband, Edouard Bell, with Beverly Hills. It lends its name to a line of bathing suits for women.
