The Drapeau of the Ghana is composed of three horizontal bands red (above), Jaune and Vert E (the Couleur S of the unintermitting African). In its center a black star with five branches is pointing out the fact that it is the first country of Africa to have obtained its independence at the XXe century.

That Ci represents for the yellow: richness of Ghana, gold. For the green: it is nature and the natural resources. For the red: the blood poured for the independence of Ghana (first country to have had its independence in Africa) It is the official flag of Ghana since the June 6th 1957. During a short period, the yellow band was replaced by a white band (of January 1st 1964 with the February 28th 1966).

A union with Guinea was represented by a similar but struck flag of two black stars.
