Venom , group British originating in Newcastle (England), was formed in 1979 by Cronos (Chant, low), Mantas (Guitare) and Abbadon (battery).

Biography

Dissatisfied of the scene metal, where the “hard” groups more were Motörhead and Judas Priest, Cronos, Mantas and Abbadon propose to push metal further. They are regarded as the precursors of the Thrash metal and the Black metal.

In the beginning, the group was called Oberon and consisted of five members.
“Venom” was in fact the pseudonym of motorcyclist of Mantas. Cronos met the group as a guitarist. Mantas required of him to sing one of its compositions, Live Like An Angel, Die Like has Devil and the group appreciated the result.

Welcome To Hell (1981) obtains a great success and the small pocket putting in the high-speed motorboat the malignant one, inter alia, was a remarkable feat of ingenuity at that time, or only the other group which dared to mention the name of Satan was Black Sabbath.

The " term; Black metal " was born with the second album from Venom, Black Metal (1982). In the music, the words and even the titles of this album, one finds the basic elements of the black metal through the ages.

Their third album, At War With Satan (1983), more brutal than the precedents, is constituted of a piece of more than 20 minutes, occupying the entirety of the face has and telling a war between demons and angels inspired by the biblical text of the Apocalypse. Certain pieces of the face B, Genocide and Stand Up And Be Counted , with references to the “tyrants, messengers of Satan”, with their “legions” appearing at the time of the “solstice” and of course, with the genocide, deal with another subject, remained relatively taboo hitherto: fascination for the evil which incarnate the totalitarian modes. This fascination will not leave any more the world of extreme metal, certain groups using of the images or the words referring more or less explicitly to the IIIème Reich German (of which Slayer and Mayhem which has in addition both taken again the song Witching Hour of Venom), other groups going until asserting néo-Nazis (NSBM).

If their the first three albums had been successes, so much near the public than near criticism, the following albums were much appreciated. So much so that the editor of at CD republication War With Satan will insinuate that the continuation of their career was a failure. It is also good to note that, although it was very provocative, the group was never caught really with the serious one. Lastly, they asserted mobility NWOBHM.

Album " tribute" in Venom

Venom being a headlight group of heavy-metal having influenced many groups, some of them decided to pay homage to them by taking again some of their songs. An album, " In The Name Off Satan (Tribute To Venom has) " gather these recoveries, like two new songs of Venom. The tracklist is composed as follows:
