The pike with a grid ( Esox Niger ) is a small native species of pike the east coast of North America. The pike with a grid holds its name of the reason characteristic of its dress.

Identification

The pike with a grid has 4 pores sensory under its mandibles inferiors, the Grand pike has of them 5 and the Maskinongé from 6 to 9. The totality of the covers is scaled while that the upper part is scaled at the Grand pike.

Habitat

He lives the lakes and the rivers with slow course or the pits.

Lifestyle

As all the pikes it is a hunter in ambush. It waits motionless until its prey passes in the vicinity. Its food is mainly made up of smaller fish.
