Esma Redžepova
Esma Redžepova (in Cyrillic EcмаРеџепова , in Latin transcription Esma Ređepova ), born in 1945, is a Chanteuse and Actrice Macedonian, emblematic figure of the community Romanian (gypsy of Eastern Europe).
Its life
Esma Redžepova is resulting from a family (probably at the same time Jewish and Musulman E) of Suto Orizari (Šutka), district primarily Romanian Tzigane of the suburbs of Skopje in Macedonia. It resided at it until the thirteen years age when it was pointed out, at the time of a contest of song, by the type-setter Macedonian Stevo Teodosievski. This last took then charges with it the artistic formation with the young woman and convainquit her family to let it leave with him. He became his mentor.Esma took the role of singer in the group whose Stevo was the leader, type-setter and accordionist. The following year came success with the title “Čaj Šukarije” (Romanian Beautiful young girl).
Together, they gave more 12 000 concerts, such as for example with the Olympia (Paris) in 1966. They accumulated successes, their audience not limiting itself only to the Romanian community.
In 1968, Esma and Stevo married. They founded a musical school where they accommodated tens of boys. In 1997, with died of Stevo, Esma gave up a time the rounds. A few months later, it reconsidered its decision and was surrounded by some of her children to go up the group “Teodosievski” .
Esma sang at the time of hundreds in concerts of charity. For several years now, it has taken an active part in the management of sound ONG, Romanian-Esma , which defends the cause of the women roms and more largely of the Tziganes of the whole world whose Esma intends to be an ambassadress. She was quoted among the nominated ones for the title of Nobel Prize of Peace in 2002.
