Escrebieux

The Escrebieux is a small river which takes its source with Izel-lès-Équerchin, crosses Quiéry-the-Mound then the marshes of Flers-in-Escrebieux to throw itself in the Scarpe.

Subterranean water

  • in 2006 19 million m3 of subterranean water is taken in the valley of the Escrebieux and in particular by wells of drilling on the territory of Esquerchin.
  • These drillings are properties of the town of Douai and feeds out of water meadows of 500.000 inhabitants.

Field of the Thatched cottage

  • to safeguard the quality of this subterranean water the town of
Douai acquired the farm " The chaumiére" of 70 hectares located on the communes of Esquerchin and Cuincy.
  • 50 hectares were wooded 15.015 trees; 54215 arbustres; 23 040 seedlings of hedges and a fence of 4535 measure girds the perimeter
  • a pedestrian path girdles the field of the Thatched cottage
