The Arabia is vast a Péninsule with the junction of the Africa and Asia, in the east of the Ethiopia and north of the Somalia, in the south of the Palestine, Jordan and Mésopotamie, and in the south-west of the Iran. It is primarily desert, because of omnipresence of anticyclonic masses. Only extreme south-west is sprinkled a little more: the mountains collect a little moisture. Also precipitations around Sana' has can reach 400 to 600 mm/an, and up to 1000 in altitude. Everywhere else, one does not reach 200 mm/an on the coasts.
Arabia is bordered by the Red Sea and the Golfe of Akaba in the west, by the Golfe of Aden in south-west, by the Mer of Arabia in south-east and by the Golfe of Oman and the Persian Gulf in the North-East.
It is formed by the Saudi Arabia, but also by the Yemen, Oman, the Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain (this last is in fact an island with broad of the peninsula itself).
Arabia recovers 3 000 000 km ² and count approximately 60 000 000 inhabitants whose great majority lives in Saudi Arabia and, to a lesser extent, in Yemen. 2 million lives in the Sultanate of Oman. The population increases at high intervals each year in the countries of the Arabic Peninsula: more 2 %.
The population is ultra mainly Moslem, following various rites (Hanéfite S, Ibadite S, Sunnite S, some Chiite S). Small immigrant religious minorities are counted: bouddists, hindouists, Christian.
The ancient literature indicated it by referring to three distinct areas:
- the deserted Arabia,
- the happy Arabia,
- the pétrée Arabia.
