Escherichia coli O157: H7
The Escherichia coli O157: H7 are a Sérotype of Escherichia coli particular person in charge of several pathologies:
- the hemorrhagic Colitis
- the haemolytic and uremic Syndrome (SHU)
- the Purpura thrombotic thrombocytopenic (postal and telecommunications authorities)
The code O157: H7 corresponds to the identification of particular protein phenotype of surface of the bacterium. Thus “O” (of the German O hne Hauch = without film) corresponds to the somatic antigen and “H” (of the German H auch = film) corresponds to the flagellar antigen. Of other Escherichia coli can give pathologies quoted above but it is the O157 type: H7 which is generally blamed.
