Erudite pear tree
The erudite pear tree is wood constituting the luggage which accompanies Deuxfleurs in the first volumes by the Annales of the Disc-World.
At the end of the book the Eighth Magic spell, Two-Flowers makes gift with Rincevent of it. The principal characteristic of this material is to follow its owner absolutely everywhere. In fact, the luggage is provided with many legs and follows Rincevent everywhere (including in the Dimension of the Dungeon in Sourcellerie). The erudite pear tree has other appreciable talents. It seems in particular that the interior of the luggage is a kind of dimensional door, the luggage which can store an apparently infinite number of object of any size, and restore them with its owner on request. It is also a very sure place where to keep invaluable objects, the luggage eating (or at least, swallowing) any person trying to approach it to open it. In certain passages, it is even written that the luggage seems sometimes " exprimer" feelings (what seems very complicated, including with the characters who notice it, taking into account the condition of the luggage).
The erudite pear tree is well originally a tree (just like the pear tree) having been subject to the influence of a strong magic field following the Thaumaturgical Wars having taken place before the beginning of the first volume, and which are reported only in the shape of historical chronicles pointing out the power of the magic.
