Erquy

Erquy ( Erge-rear-Mor in Breton, Erqi in Gallo) is a common department of the Coast-with Armor, in the area Brittany, in France.

Erquy is a city of the coast of Penthièvre, fishing port very active (flotilla of approximately 80 trawlers); she of this fact is known to be the capital of the Scallop fished in bay of Saint-Brieuc. Tourist destination very appraisal the summer, Erquy preserved an undeniable charm with its many houses in pink sandstone.

Near Erquy the course of Erquy is, famous rock headland, surrounded by moors and property of the Conservatoire of the littoral.

Artists

Afterwards after having almost passed all its life with Erquy, the painter landscape designer Leon Hamonet, having been born at the Stock Exchange City in 1877 and having deceased in 1957, was buried with the marine cemetery.
Maurice Bernard, painter impressionist, born on January 25th, 1927 in Saint-Cast and deceased on March 7th, 2005 with Erquy. Holder of the Grand Prix of New York in 1970, this artist of ground is especially known by his superb “marine” fabrics. He had dropped anchor with Erquy (in Turquay) in 1976.
