Erquelinnes
Erquelinnes (in Walloon Erkelene ) is a common French-speaking of Belgium located in Walloon region in the Province of Hainaut.
Frontier commune and old Franco-Belgian border post, it is close the French city to Jeumont. Erquelinnes is the first common Belgian sprinkled by Sambre and fact part of the tourist area High-Sambre.
In fact, Erquelinne constitutes today the same agglomeration with its French neighbor. If the urban fabric is in perfect continuity, the border effect is strongly marked. Many less taxed trade (beers…) or of products prohibited in France (RedBull…) are massively sold Belgian side, which benefits from the tax basket.
