The erotomania is a disease of the group of the Psychose S, built around the delirious conviction which one is loved by a person. She is also called syndrome of Clérambault , according to the French psychiatrist Gaëtan Gatian de Clérambault which presented of it an analysis ( passion psychoses ) in 1921.

History

• the ancient authors evoked already the erotomania, but its first evocation in Psychiatrie date of 1623: by Jacques Ferrand, in Disease of love or erotic melancholy .
• Jacques Lacan devoted his thesis of medicine to the study of a case published in 1932. In this work, it presents celebrates it case Aimée, that of a woman who had attacked with the knife an actress of theater.

Symptoms

The erotomania is defined as a passion state of the person who is held in three phases. Initially, the phase of hope supports pride and certainty to be liked by a man or a woman (more rarely) " of bien" , what follows soon the phase of spite , while the third is the phase of hatred , placing the person " aimée" in position of victim.

Treatment

The erotomania is a rare disease, whose causes are unknown. It is very long and delicate to treat. Once the patient was received in psychiatric consultation, and according to the degree of its disorder, the treatment can go from the lightest measurements (regular consultations) to most coercive: hospitalization under constraint, with progressive exit very framed with psychotropic.

The erotomania can be isolated - one is then in the register of the Paranoïa -, or associated with other delirious elements as in the Schizophrénie.
