Eroski
Eroski, is a Spanish distribution company of the group Mondragón Cooperative Corporation, this name is resulting from the contraction of " erosi" (to buy) there " toki" (place/place) out of Basque.
The group is a co-operative created during the Seventies at the Pays Basque Spanish which counts more than 1600 establishments in Spain (in 2006:84 hypermarkets, almost 700 supermarkets, more than 200 travel agencies, 200 perfumeries of the sign " If" as well as stores of Cash & Curry, cafeterias and restaurants).
The Eroski group holds with parity with the Groupe Crossroads the company Altis , franchized of the second and exploiting 22 sales outlets in France with the sign Carrefour and Champion.
In 2002, the group signed an alliance with the Musketeers to create the European Purchasing group Alidis (international Alliance of the distributers).
In 2005 the group realized more than 30 billion euros turnover and counted more than 30.000 paid (including more than 12.000 members).
In June 2007, the co-operative group is about to take a participation of 75%, representing a value of 1,3 millard of euros, in the Catalan group of distribution Caprabo . The other shares will remain between the hands of the families founders Botet, Elias and Carbo like between the hand of the Catalan savings bank. The Caprabo group to date represents 15.000 paid distributed in 500 supermarkets.
