Ernst Nobs
Ernst Nobs , Swiss politician , was born the July 14th 1886 with Seedorf close to Aarberg (Canton of Bern) and deceased the March 15th 1957. He is the first socialist member Federal council of 1944 with 1951.
Studies and career
- Wire of a tailor and a worker of the Clock industry, it passes its youth to Grindelwald (the Bernese Alps).
- It follows a primary education training of teacher to Hofwil.
- As of 1906, it teaches with Wynau and Ostermundigen.
- In 1910, it assumes the chairmanship of the Socialist party of the canton of Bern.
- It ceases teaching in 1912 and becomes journalist.
- In 1915, it is called with the Volksrecht Zurich of which he will be editor association until in 1935.
- It in parallel assumes the presidency of the Socialist party of the Canton of Zurich.
- It encourages the toughening of the working class and launches a call to the Grève which is worth one month of prison to him. Initially in favor of adhesion to the Third International, it is opposed to it to end 1920.

- In 1942, it replaces Emil Klöti with the presidency of the town of Zurich.
Federal adviser
- the December 15th 1943, it is elected at the Federal council. The socialist party had just gained 11 seats at the National council and the war supported the entry of a Socialist to the government.
- It directs the department of finances of January 1st 1944 to the December 31st 1951.
- It had to set up a financial mode by transforming the tax S of war into regular taxes. It encountered various resistances: the federalists opposed to the direct tax which was to be cantonal competence , the socialist and trade-union left was unfavorable to the indirect tax. Its project was massively rejected in 1950 and the extended transitory taxes.
