Ernst Haefliger
Ernst Haefliger (born the July 6th 1919 with Davos and dead the March 17th 2007 in Davos), was a Ténor Suisse. He studied the song and the Violon with Zurich and improved near Julius Patzak with Vienna before beginning in 1942 with Geneva. From 1943 to 1952, he was member of the opera of Zurich, then until 1974 of the opera of West Berlin.
Before any famous interpreter of the Cantata S and Passions of J.S. Bach (it “incarnated” the Évangéliste during nearly forty years) and of crowned vocal works (Messe S, Requiem) of W.A. Mozart, it also recorded, very tardily, the Voyage from winter of Franz Schubert.
In the field of the opera, he mainly collaborated with Ferenc Fricsay, of which he belonged to “the team” at the sides of Maria Stader, Hertha Töpper and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Lyric tenor and not dramatic, equipped with a voice of a great clearness and purity, but not very powerful - just like Maria Stader, precisely - it nevertheless was a good Don Ottavio and a convincing Florestan by his weakness rather than by a health with the Jon Vickers.
