Ernest Jones

Ernest Jones (1879 - February 11th 1958). Psychiatrist, raises Emil Kraepelin introduced the psychoanalysis in Great Britain. He was president of the International Psychoanalytical Association.

Biography

Jones is born in 1879 with Gowertown, wire of a mining engineer. He studies at the University of Cardiff then becomes doctor, remains with Vienna, would have become - it is discussed - Professor of psychiatry to Toronto and settles with London. He in particular studied with Emil Kraepelin.

He has echo of works of Sigmund Freud and learns how German in order to read the interpretation of the dreams . In 1906, it starts to practice the Psychanalyse spontaneously. It meets Carl Gustav Jung in 1907 and Freud the following year. Shown to have held of the indecent remarks near two young children, it spends one day in prison then is recognized innocent. Jones leaves then to the Canada and starts a long correspondence with Freud.

In 1911, Jones founds the American Psychoanalytic Association. In 1912, it returns to London. It remains two months with Budapest in order to follow a didactic formation with Sándor Ferenczi.

It will continue during the First World War its practice of the psychoanalysis. In 1916, it marries Morfydd Owen.

It will help, in 1926, Melanie Klein to be settled with London and it will become the analyst of his wife and their children. In spite of its proximity and its fidelity with Freud, it knew to keep its independence of mind by defending Mr. Klein and his integration with the English psychoanalytical movement.

He becomes a close relation of Freud and his biographer, meticulous person and precis with the life and the work of Freud . This monument, often criticized, remains an inexhaustible source to include/understand Freud. One prefers recent works to him steps inevitably more heuristic.
