Ernest Cadine

Ernest Cadine (born the July 12th 1893 with Saint-Denis, dead the May 28th 1978 with Paris), was a haltérophile French, of small size (1m 67 per 82,5 kg).

Ernest Cadine was a man whose handshake was “legendary”. It began its career in 1910, and was the first Olympic champion French in the category of cruiser-weight (and indirectly all confused categories, because its total was higher than the winner of the category of the heavy ones!), with the Plays of Antwerp in 1920. Its two combat of prestige vis-a-vis its successor Charles Rigoulot remained in all the memories.

Thereafter, he undertook a career with the Music-hall, and obtained, the year of his death, the Cross of knight in the National order of the Merit. He died at the 84 years age the May 28th 1978.
