Ernest Burnelle

Ernest Burnelle born with Liege on July 12th, 1908 and deceased with Liege on August 5th, 1968 is a Belgian politician and a Walloon militant.

This wire of workman Anarchiste was initially a teacher then a conscientious scientific regent with Nivelles, then Liege. He meets there Théo Dejace which sensitizes it with the union action. He is teaching secretary of the Power station inhabitant of Li2ege of the socialist personnel and he animates in the years 1960 the trade-union Common front inhabitant of Li2ege.

When the Second world war bursts, Ernest Burnelle enters Resistance. It had made the Campagne the 18 day old but escapes the captivity reserved to the Walloon soldiers . It belongs to the Walloon Front for the release of the country. It takes part in the clandestine press, becomes a companion of fight of Julien Lahaut. He escapes from accuracy from an arrest by the Germans who imprison his father. He is permanent Belgian Communist party clandestine and continues then his fight with the Borinage in the country of Charleroi.

One regards it as anti-Stalinist in the line of Rene Beelen and he will become secretary of the PCB in 1954 and even national president in 1963. He is secretary of the inhabitant of Li2ege federation of the PCB (1946-1947), national leader of propaganda (1947-1948), writer of the newspaper the red Flag of 1949 to 1950 during the royal Question. From 1946 to 1949, he is appointed of Liege and supports the private bill revising Constitution deposited by Marcel-Hubert Gregoire in the name of the Walloon National congress of 1945, confirmed by the Second Walloon national congress. Itself speaks with the Third national congress Walloon of Brussels in 1948, where he declares that he commits himself propagating the idea of the Fédéralisme in the popular masses. It enters to the Walloon Popular movement created after the General strike of the winter 1960-1961, is re-elected appointed of Liege of 1965 with 1968, is again elected this year, but at the time of a meeting, jointly organized with the Belgian Socialist party, the Walloon Popular movement and the general Fédération of the work of Belgium, it is struck of a brain hemorrhage from which it will not go back. It is replaced with the head of the PCB by Marc Drumaux and with the Chambre, by Marcel Levaux which itself will also engage in the Walloon movement, in particular with Wallonia Région of Europe.
