Ernest Bloch (July 24th 1880 with Geneva July -15 1959 with Portland cement in the Oregon), is a American Compositeur of origin Suisse.

Biography

He studies the Violon, with in particular Eugene Ysaÿe with Brussels and the composition with Francfort-sur-le-Main. He was Leader with Lausanne before settling with the USA in 1916, he becomes professor of composition starting from 1917 with Cleveland, then with San Francisco where he is director of the academy between 1925 and 1930. He takes American nationality in 1924. Among his the most known pupils, one can quote George Antheil and Roger Sessions.
