Traces of a prehistoric presence exist, in particular the Dolmen of Contrie, classified historic building in 1887 and 1910. Traces of a Gallo-Roman establishment were identified at the beginning of the 20th century, at the village of Boisières on the road of Carelles. As of the 10th century, a charter of the Mont Saint-Michel mentions the name of territorium ernei . In 1231, after the concluded truce with Saint-Aubin-of-Cormier the, on July 4th, between the White queen of Castille, regent, and Pierre Mauclerc, duke of Brittany, the town of Ernée was the place of the interview ( pallamentum ) between Pierre Mauclerc and Philippe Hurepel, uncle of the king. This interview showed a solemn exchange of oaths. During the War One hundred Year old, like all the area, the town of Ernée was devastated and ruined. In 1487, the inhabitants of Ernée address to Jean Armagnac, baron de Mayenne, a request where they ask him that the size with “esmage and screw” of 50 books be reduced to the sum of 12 pounds, because the preceding wars had obliged the inhabitants to flee and had so much ruined their city that of 1.800 houses of taxpayers to this size, it remained only one score about it. At the end of the 15th century, the Breton ones of Fougères invaded the country of Ernée and seized the city, to which they reflect fire. The fire lasted from May 18th to 21st 1488.
