Ernâni Lopes

Ernâni Rodrigues Lopes (February 20th 1942 with Lisbon) is a Professor and a Politician Portuguese which was member of the European Convention.

He carries out a course of mastère of European studies ( MY Races : 1997-99; 1998-2000; 1999-2001) on The Political Economy off the European Union; Futurology off Europe (seminar of Universidade Católica Portuguesa de Lisboa ( UCP ), Instituto de Estudos Europeus Lisbon - Portugal).

Professor of economy and Director of the Institute of European Studies, catholic University (UCP) of Lisbon, Portugal (since 1980).

Professor of the Institute of Political Studies (UCP) (since 1997).

President of the Administration, Gestres-Gestão Estratégica Espírito Santo S.A., Lisbon, Portugal.

Former minister for the Economy and the Plan of Portugal (1983-1985).

Former ambassador with Bonn and Brussels and chair Executive office of the Luso-Spanish Foundation (since 2000).

He became chairman of the board of the group Portugal Telecom (President C Conselho de Administração C Grupo Portugal Telecom).

Academic qualifications

  • 1964: Graduated in Economics from I.S.C.E.F., Lisbon Technical University

  • 1982: Ph.D. in Economics from the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP).
