Ermanno Gorrieri

Ermanno Gorrieri (Sassuolo, November 26th 1920 - Modena, December 29th 2004) was a Sociologue, trade union leader and Italian politician .

During the Second world war, it took part in the resistance and was active in the creation of the République of Montefiorino. After the war it was one of the founders of the Italian Confédération of the trade unions of workers and it was also elected appointed at the Parliament, for the party of the Christian Democrat, of 1958 with 1963. Its true field of interest was however the study of the social problems, in particular poverty.

In policy, he was regarded as independent, representing the civil society. Its last and more prestigious station were that of Minister for Labor in the Fanfani government of 1987, station which it occupied however only a few days.

Inspired of the ideology of the social Christianity, in 1993 it joint with Pierre Carniti to start the movement Cristiano Sociali ( Socialiste Christian ) which amalgamated, five years later, with the Left Democrats which they contributed to found.
