Eric Lann

Eric Lann is a Trompettiste French Born in Brittany in 1957, it settles with Paris in 1977 where it begins its professional path. It obtains in 1979, the 1st price of the National competition of jazz to Defense with Paris.

It occurs as of 1980 in the Quintette of Rene Urtreger at the sides of Jean-François Jenny-Clark, Aldo Romano and Jean Louis Chautemps, like with the four-bit byte of Henri Texier with Bernard Lubat with the battery.

It makes a series in concerts with Pepper Adams in 1981 then integrates the Onztet Patrice Caratini as well as the Big band of Martial Solal in which it takes part in many European festivals ($the Hague, Prague, Pori, Montreux, Berlin).

It assembles then its clean four-bit byte with André Ceccarelli, Cesarius Alvim and Olivier Hutman in 1982, the following year it obtains the Prix Django Reinhardt decreed by the academy of the jazz and takes part in the Festival of the European radios with Stockholm. It joint with the trio Texier, Jeanneau, Humair at the time of a round in India.

In 1985 it plays in film of Bertrand Tavernier Around midnight with Dexter Gordon, Herbie Hancock and Billy Higgins. In parallel, It composes the music of film of Didier Haudepin: Elsa, Elsa with François Cluzet and Lio, then music of film of Benoit Jacquot: Body and well with Lambert Wilson and Dominique Sanda.

It records the disc I Mist You in four-bit byte and occurs in various festivals: Nice, Oporto, Lisbon, Nancy, Paris, etc

It creates in 1989 an orchestra of Jazz fusion with in particular Louis Winsberg with the guitar, Paco Sery with the battery then share in New York to record with Mike Stern, Eddie Gomez, Mino Cinelu the album New York .

Many concerts will follow during four years which will carry out it in France, Asia (Filipino, Thailand, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Bali) and in India, Nepal, Algérie, Morocco before the recording of a disc of songs of Edith Piaf and Charles Trenet with an orchestra made up of 35 musicians on arrangements of Martial Solal.

From 1992 to 1995, it occurs with its various formations in West Africa (Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger, Cameroun, Togo, Bénins) in Eastern Europe (Bulgaria, Romania, Greece) in Southern Africa (Rwanda, Iles Maurice, Seychelles, Abidjan) in Israel (festival of Eilat, Tel-Aviv) and in Portugal like in France. It records the album: Cape Fréhel .

In 1996 it records a disc in duet with Michel Graillier, then a disc with archie Shepp with which it always occurs in concert as well as a disc with his group accoustic four-bit byte: Today I Fell In Coils . It occurs since 1998 in duet with Martial Solal, in quintet with archie Shepp or its own four-bit byte. With this last he played the European festival of New Dehli then a series in concert in India and Middle East (Sudan, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Jordan).

He composes in 1999 the music of film of Gilles Bourdos: Missings with Anouk Grinberg, then music of documentary of Valerie Stroh on Simone de Beauvoir for France3 in one century of writer. Exit of CD Portrait in black and white in duet with Martial Solal.

He plays as soloist in the band its composed by Martial Solaldu film of Bertrand Blier the Actors .

He founds and directs the School of musical creation to Rennes, then moves it in Dinan in 2003.

It takes part in CD of Henri Salvador: Room with sight . In 2001, It takes part in the Festivals of Abidjan and Tunis with archie Shepp as well as many concerts in duet with Martial Solal. 70 representations in province and 30 representations with the theater of the Bastille in Paris of the part of Jean Bernard Pouy 54 × 13 with the actor Jacques Bonaffe. It obtains on this occasion in June 2001 the Grand Prix of criticism for the best composition of incidental music of the year.

It composes and arranges a work for 25 musicians within the framework of the festival Inter Celtique of Lorient that it interprête on August 3rd, 2002. It records it in 2004 with Manu Lann-Huel and Marthe Vassalo; this CD leaves in January 2005 under the title Origines .

In 2005, it records, in duet, of the compositions of Antonio Carlos Jobim with the guitarist Jean-Marie Ecay. CD Eric Lann - Jean-Marie Ecay play Jobim appears at Nocturne in May 2005.

In 2006: March - Republication at Night of Carried in black and White , disc in duet with Martial Solal.

June - Republication at Universal of Cape Fréhel with Lionel Belmondo, Jean-Michel Pilc, Richard Bona, Jean-Paul Ceccarelli.
