Eric Hélary

Eric Hélary is a racing driver French born the August 10th 1966 with Paris.

It is especially known general public to have gained the 24 hours of Mans 1993 at the wheel of the Peugeot 905.

It is consulting today for Motors TV.

Biography

Eric Hélary followed an exemplary course in his career. Commançant the competition in Karting in 1979, he will be Champion of France Junior of this discipline during 3 consecutive years of 1984 with 1986. It launches out then in the Formule Ford and gains in 1986 the stealing Elkron with Montlhéry and becomes in 1988 Champion of France of Ford Formula. It signs for the season 1989 at Oreca, the stable of Hughes de Chaunac and takes part in the Championship of France of Formule 3 which will gain the following year with the stable Formula Project. In 1991, the doors of the Formule 3000 opens with him, but the results are disappointing, it will finish 8th with the Championship.

It reorientates its career, by leaving the world of the single-seater, and in 1992, he becomes Champion of Europe and Vice Champion of France in the Formula Peugeot Spider 905. It launches out, always with Peugeot in the Championship of the world of the sport scars. The following year, he is Champion of France in the Formula Peugeot Spider 905 and gains as of his first participation the 24 hours of Mans with Geoff Brabham and Christophe Bouchut in the wheel of the Peugeot 905.

From 1994 and until in 2005, it is one of the principal organizers of the Championship of France of supertourism, regularly finishing second on Opel and Peugeot. It takes part, meanwhile with the championships BPR in 1995, in STW in 1998 and 1999 and DTM in 2000.

Since its victory in Mans, it will have a preference in the races of endurance, and will gain in 1996 the 24 hours of Chamonix which is an automobile race on ice, in 1997 the 24 hours of Spa and will take part in 11 tests of the 24 hours of Mans.

Always faithful to Peugeot, the mark of Sochaux will call upon him in 2007 to develop and develop its new racing racing car of endurance, the Peugeot 908 for the 24 hours of Mans 2007. Although integrated in the team of the pilots, Eric will not take part in this adventure, being only the pilot of reserve.
