Eric Besson , born on April 2nd, 1958 with Marrakech with the Morocco, is a Politician French. He is since May 18th, 2007, Secretary of State near the Prime Minister, in charge with the Futurology and the evaluation of the public policies in the government Francois Fillon (renewed in the government Francois Fillon 2 on June 19th, 2007).

He starts by working in the private sector and is member of the Socialist party of 1993 with 2007. He is Maire of Donzère (Drome) since 1995 and appointed second district of Drome of 1997 with 2007 (under the label of the PS until February 21st, 2007, without label thereafter).

He resigns of his mandate of national secretary to the economy of the PS on February 21st, 2007 and joined the team of countryside of Nicolas Sarkozy at the evening of the first turn of the French presidential election of 2007 to coordinate the " there; pole gauche" .

Biography

Born with the Morocco from a mother from origin Lebanon ease and from a father pilot-instructor for the French Army, which committed suicide in flight three months before its birth, it joined France at the 17 years age. It makes its studies with ESC Montpellier then with IEP Paris. It fails the entry of ENA in 1982 and then joined Renault. It briefly directs the drafting of the newspaper Challenges then joined the council in human resources and the fight against exclusion (Foundation Face and Foundation Vivendi).

He is married with Sylvie Brunel, geographer, writer and former president of Action against the hunger, and father of three children. His/her oldest daughter, Alexandra, are also writer under the pseudonym of ARIANE Fornia.

Political career

It joined the Socialist party in 1993, at 35 years. He is elected mayor of Donzère in the Drome in 1995, is appointed under the label of the PS since 1997 and is re-elected in 2002. In 2003, it joined the national office of the PS as national secretary of the economy and employment and the companies. In 2005, he becomes national secretary with the economy in charge with the economy and the taxation to the pole activities of the PS after the congress of the mans

Presidential 2007

In dissension " basic " with Ségolène Royal, he resigns of his post of national secretary and puts in withdrawal presidential campaign. He decides, in spite of the adverse opinion of Lionel Jospin of which he was faithful also, to leave the Socialist party on February 21st, 2007 in full presidential campaign after his calling into question on the figuring of the cost of the presidential pact of the socialist candidate and the personal attacks of Julien Dray and François Rebsamen.

He announces at the time of a press conference that he will not be candidate for his own succession with the legislative elections of June 2007. Saying “ released ”, it gives during this conference its opinion on Ségolène Royal. It also leaves the socialist group with the National Assembly. He says whereas he will vote for her only if she were opposed to Jean-Marie Le Pen. On Sunday, April 22, 2007, little time after the advertisement of the results of the 1st turn of the presidential election, it further goes and announces its rallying with Nicolas Sarkozy: “Of the two continuing candidates, it appears to me best prepared, more qualified and most coherent”, he declared.

Whereas he had announced his withdrawal of the political life to devote itself to football, Eric Besson speaks at the time of the 1st meeting of second turn of Nicolas Sarkozy, with Dijon. He affirms, in front of 10.000 partisans of UMP jellyfishes but charmed, being “a man of the left which will support and to vote for a man who asserts himself of right-hand side (...) it is a republican of right-hand side which carries best the values in which I believe”.

He confirms his political reversal, analyzed like “a treason”, in favor of Nicolas Sarkozy at the time of the meetings of Paris and Montpellier. In fact, according to Le Figaro, it would have begun its bringing together with Nicolas Sarkozy as of 1995 after it had met it via Jean-Marie Messier. Moreover it did not share any more one certain number of essential points of the political line of the PS like the 35 hours.

Current function

May 18th, 2007, it is named Secretary of State in charge with the futurology and the evaluation of the public policies, near the Prime Minister in the government Francois Fillon. He announces in September 2007 the creation of a new political movement, baptized the Progressists.

worrying “quiet rupture” of Mr Sarkozy

In the first work which it coordinated for the party socialiste, worrying “the rupture quiet” of Mr Sarkozy , it required: “Is France it lends to vote in 2007 for an American néo-conservative with French passport? ”. In its book Which knows Mrs Royal? , it says to regret this sentence.

In its book Which knows Mrs Royal? appeared with the editions Grasset, discussion with Claude Askolovitch, Eric Besson announces that he will vote for the candidate of the PS “neither to the first nor with the second turn of the election, except if she were opposed to Jean-Marie Le Pen”. (…) However until my resignation, I was a honest craftsman of his countryside, I forced myself to advance in spite of what I noted, I saw brutality, I saw unpreparedness. Ease. I saw the demagogy”. It also speaks about the personal attacks of François Rebsamen, which while being caught some with its family, would have precipitated her departure of the PS. Is the title of its book an allusion to a public statement of Ségolène Royal at the time of a political meeting when it vilified its adviser by questioning the assistance of one “which knows Mr Besson? ” after its resignation of the PS.
