When Vietnam was separate in two distinct entities, two national teams transfer the day: that of the Northern and that of the Southern. Between 1956 and 1966, the team of North disputed almost only matches against communist countries while the team of the South took share to the two first cuts of Asia of the nations. South-Vietnam disputed her last match in 1975 but the reunified team started to play only in 1991. Co-organizer of the Cut of Asia 2007, Vietnam creates the feeling while reaching quarter-final behind Japan, holding of the title. That represents the greatest footballistic performance of the team of Vietnam since her reunification.
