the team of Morocco of football is consisted a selection of the best Moroccan players under the aegis of the Moroccan royal Fédération of football. Today, Morocco makes party of best the African teams with Cameroun, the Ivory Coast or Nigeria while being essential in many international championships.
History
After protectorate
At the end of French protectorate (1956) and after the creation of the royal Federation FRMF in 1955, the Moroccan national team takes her place in the international concert, and disputed its first international official match as country independent against the team of Iraq on October 19th, 1957 within the framework of the Jeux Panarabes; a match which showed a score of 3 goals everywhere.
First title: cut of Africa of the Nations 1976
The Selection of Morocco gains its first international title at the time of Coupe of Africa of the Nations 1976 in Ethiopia, grace in particular to its striker Ahmed Faras, author of 3 goals. This year, the African Confederation of Football (the CIF) decided to try out a new formula of competition with a second round in the form of championship. The last decisive match opposes Morocco to Guinea. The Guineans need a victory whereas the Morrocans can be satisfied with a tie. Carried out 1-0, goal does not register Chérif Souleymane with the 33e minute, the Morrocans equalize to 1-1 per Baba at five minutes of the end of the match and allocate the continental trophy.
First blow of glare out of World cup: Mexico City 1986
After a first participation in the final stage in 1970 in Mexico balanced by an elimination with the first turn, the Morrocans qualify themselves again for the World cup 1986 (always in Mexico). Taken along by players like Aziz Bouderbala, Merry Krimau or Mohamed Timoumi, Morocco becomes the first African country to pass the first turn of a World cup, after 2 matches null 0-0 against the England and the Poland and a victory 3-1 against the Portugal. In eighth of finale, Morocco loses accuracy (0-1) against the FRG.
Lions of the Atlas which pains to confirm
After having missed the edition 1990, the Morrocans qualify themselves for two new final stages, in 1994 and 1998. If their elimination with the first turn in 1994 is logical (3 defeats), that of 1998 is cruel. After a tie against the Norway and a defeat against the Brazil, Morocco pulled by Henri Michel clearly beats (3-0) the Scotland at the time of its 3rd match with Saint-Etienne but is made exceed with the classification by Norway which carries it in the last minutes of its match vis-a-vis Brazil already qualified.More recently, Morocco remade to speak about him by reaching the final of the EDGE 2004, but will be beaten by the organizing country, the Tunisia of Roger Lemerre (1-2). Two years later, it is still Tunisia which bars the road of the Mondial to him 2006.
One can currently say that there is a certain competition between these two national teams.
November 16th took place the France-Morocco match at the Stade de France (2-2), and on November 21st Morocco-Senegal (3-0) in Creteil in matches of preparation to the EDGE 2008.
