Equip satellite

The satellite concept of team is used in sport Automobile to indicate a private team (or in rarer cases official), on which the activities are dependant on a official team. These activities relate to most of the time the engagement of cars on behalf of the team-mother (a kind of Sous-traitance).

Currently in WRC, one can quote the case of the team Kronos, which engages of the cars for the account of Citroen Sport. It was also the case of the team Bozian, which made in the same way for Peugeot Sport, and that of the team Grifone, satellite of old the Toyota TEAM Europe.

It is also the case in Formule 1 of the stable Scuderia Toro Rosso, satellite of the stable Red Bull Racing. In this last case, the satellite stable belongs directly to the first. One also speaks about Junior TEAM to designate a team intended to train young pilots or engineers, intended to join one day the team-mother. It is in particular the case of the second Red Bull team.
