Equip cyclist Mercatone Uno (Italy)

The team cyclist Mercatone Uno is a former professional cyclist team Italy, created in 1997 and dissolved in 2003. It was in particular the team of Marco Pantani which carried out doubled the Tour de France - Tour of Italy in 1998.

This team should not be confused with the formation saint-marinaise which bore the same name of 1992 to 1995.

History of the team

The team Mercatone Uno is created in 1997, by the former sport director of the Italian team Carrera. Majority of the runners of the latter, whose Marco Pantani, joins Mercatone (other runners according to the manager Davide Boifava in the new team Asics).

Classifications UCI by teams

From 1997 to 2002, Mercatone Uno is classified among the Sporting Groupes I (GSI), the first division of the professional cyclists teams. It was relegated in lower division (GSII) in 2003. The classifications detailed below are those of the formation Mercatone Uno at the end of the season.
