Equality Socialist Young people

Égalité Socialist Young people (EJS) was with the congress of Lamoura in 2003 the second current of the Mouvement of the young Socialists of many members. Égalité Jeunes Socialist is close to Agir association for the Equality animated by Claude Bartolone, principal lieutenant of Laurent Fabius.

Present on the whole of the national territory, old from 15 to 30 years, the militants of this association are internationalists, laic, republican, pro-Europeans and basically attached to the equality.

At the time of the countryside chief clerk on the European Constitution in 2005, EJS made the choice make countryside for not in spite of the majority vote of the members of the Socialist party. The majority of the local managers and nationals of the Movement of the young Socialists, also for not, had decided not to make countryside against the Socialist party. EJS was opposed thus to the National office of the MJS which had decided on December 5th, 2004 “to respect the internal democracy with the party” and was put in minority at the time of the National council of the MJS of January 16th, 2005.

While assuming its responsibilities within the Movement for the young Socialists, EJS decided to continue to develop its own public activity, apart from the framework of the youth organization of the Socialist party.

At the time of the National office of July 9th, 2005, whereas all the political groups of the MJS presented together a générationnelle contribution of the young Socialists on the questions of youth, Égalité Socialist Young people refused to join it, preferring to act within the framework of the current of the Socialist party, Agir for the Equality animated by Claude Bartolone.

At the time of the congress of Paris of the MJS in December 2005, Equality Socialist Young people, with Hyphen and Democracy Equality, disputed the legality of the procedure of congress and refused to join it. It is thus nearly the quarter of the members of the MJS which is not represented any more in its national authorities. These three groups created a new current: young Socialists for the Gathering On the left (JSRAG).

Égalité Jeunes Socialist was successively coordinated by Nicolas Rouly (1994-1997), Elsa Bertholet (1997-2001) and Guillaume Quercy (since 2001).
