Epic Soundtracks

Epic Soundtracks was the pseudonym of Kevin Paul Godfrey (born on March 23rd, 1959, dead on November 5th, 1997), English musician, high with Solihull in the the Midlands, beside Birmingham, with its brother Adrian Nicholas, more known under the pseudonym of Nikki Sudden (1956-2006).

The member of Swell Maps

In 1972, Kevin and Nicholas formed the core of what was going to become the group Post-punk Swell Maps, playing of the battery and the piano and Nikki of the guitar and singing Epic. Accompanied by Richard Earl, David Barrington, John Cockrill and Jowe Head, their first 45 turns Read About Seymour left in 1977 and they separated with beginning of the year 80.

Their influence is considerable in the movement Post-punk and for the emergence of the movement DIY and it perdure today, where their recordings are sought by the collectors and were abundantly republished and exhumed.

The career solo

Epic also played with the Red Krayola, Crime and the City Solution, These Immortal Souls. In 1981, it leaves one 45 turns and maximum 45 turns solo: Popular Classical at Rough Trade Records.

In 1991, it decides to be devoted to its career solo and records three depressed albums, of which two left in a posthumous way. One reproached him for wasting somewhat his talents of type-setter (thus Gilles Dupuy, in Inrockuptibles in 1996, in connection with the album Change in my life : him is fully satisfied company of its emaciated piano and its ratatinées songs. Epic Soundtracks died in its sleep on November 5th, 1997 in its apartment of West Hampstead in London. The ceremony of burial took place with the church Baptist Leamington Spa, December first. The cause of its death was not determined and was discussed much (suicide, overdose, etc)
